Polk’s roads virtually free of ice; schools reopen

Polk County’s roads are almost completely back to normal after a hectic weekend that saw snow and ice cause school closings, event cancelations, and businesses to open late. Roy Anderson from Polk County EMA told WGAA News on Friday that the secondary roads were causing the most problems. Temperatures stayed below freezing all throughout Friday and Saturday, keeping shaded areas along with ponds and lakes frozen. Northwest Georgia finally saw above freezing temps on Sunday which melted away any remaining ice. The latest road condition reports indicate that virtually all roads in the county are safe.
