One person is dead, man charged with his murder

Cedartown Police responded to a call at 223 Third Street Saturday evening at approximately 10:14 p.m. to find a person dead on the scene. According to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome, the situation was not clear because the caller to 911 did not speak any English. When officers arrived on the scene they found 23 year old Adias Tomas unresponsive on the floor at the residence. Polk EMS also arrived on the scene to render aid and transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead early Sunday morning. Though no official cause of death has been determined, Newsome says that it appears that blunt force trauma to the head may have been a factor. “His injuties were consistant with numerous blows to the head,” Newsome said. “There was no gunshot, there was no indicators of there beinga gun involved at all.” Police arrested 21 year old Anibal Simian Tomas of that same address and transported him to Polk County Jail where he awaits a bond hearing. Newsome said the investigation is continuing.
