Beer truck overturns in Centre, AL

Centre, Alabama Police and Firefighters responded to the scene of an overturned 18 wheeler on the 411 West Bypass near Sonic with the driver being uninjured. The truck overturned Tuesday morning at around 5:00 after the driver apparently failed to stop at the intersection and crossed 411 overturning the vehicle in front of Sonic, the rig was hauling some 78,000lbs of beer. Crews remained on the scene for over five hours, calling in a bobcat to unload the trucks cargo and then up-righting the vehicle and finally clearing the roadway. The driver stated that the load of cans shifted when the truck overturned. The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined, ABC Officers along with the Cherokee County Health Department also responded to the scene.
