School board votes to move CHS graduation to Saturdays

Superintendent William Hunter

For years, Cedartown High School graduation ceremonies have been on Sunday night.  But that is going to change this year following a decision by the Polk School District Board of Education Tuesday night.

Dr. William Hunter recommended to the board that they adopt the graduation dates for Rockmart High School on Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m. and for Cedartown High School on Saturday, June 6 at 10 a.m.

Hunter said the change benefits those who may come out of town to see graduation ceremonies, due to the former Sunday night time being so late.

In other business, Hunter commented during the financial report that for the entire 2014 fiscal year, revenues were 3.67 percent more than expected and expenditures were just 0.17 percent more than projected.  The general fund balance was $6,652,082.11.

Hunter also said that the money from the first sale of bonds is also now in the bank.
