Rockmart to recieve grant money for infrastructure improvements

U.S. senators Saxby Chamblis and Johnny Isakson on Monday announced that the city of Rockmart will receive a $300,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to construct infrastructure improvements at the Ga. 101 Industrial Park. The city of Rockmart will use the funding to develop an additional water well, as well as extend new water and sewer lines to serve the eastern part of the industrial park. The project is expected to support the retention of 600 jobs, the creation of 80 new jobs and leverage over $12 million in private investment. In addition to the Appalachian Regional Commission funds, the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority will provide a $460,000 in local funds, bringing the total project funding to $760,000. The Appalachian Regional Commission is a federal-state partnership that works with the people of Appalachia to create opportunities for self-sustaining economic development and improved quality of life.
