Rockmart man arrested on possession of child pronography

A Rockmart man is in the Polk County Jail today after he was arrested by Polk County Police Wednesday afternoon on numerous charges of sexual exploitation of children.

According to Detective Brandy Brady of the Polk County Police Department, Jedidiah Smith, 38 of 469 Prospect Road faces 21 counts of felony sexual exploitation of children.

Brady said that the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received evidence that Smith may have had child pornography in his possession.

Upon notification from Douglas County, Polk County Police and a GBI computer forensics expert went to the home and was granted consent to check his computer.

The GBI agent then found 21 individual images of child pornography on Smith’s hard drive.

Smith was placed under arrest and taken to the Polk County Jail, where he remains at this time without bond.
