Oxendine to speak at Floyd GOP meeting

Georgia’s Fire and Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine will speak at the Floyd County Republican Party’s monthly breakfast meeting Saturday, June 27, at 8:30 a.m. at Opi’s Waterfront Grille on West Second Avenue. Oxendine, one of six Republican candidates for Georgia governor, will speak to the fundamentals of his campaign based on his “Contract with Georgia.” Oxendine was an early entrant into the governor’s race and quickly built, according to most polls, an early lead versus the other GOP candidates. A new Rasmussen Reports “telephone survey in Georgia shows Oxendine with 35 percent support among those likely to vote in the state’s open Republican Primary. His next closest competitors are Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel with 11 percent and Congressman Nathan Deal at 10 percent.”
