Heflin man found guilty for 1993 murder

A Cleburne County man accused of killing his wife in 1993 so he could be with another woman was found guilty Thursday. Edward Kyttle drove his wife, Eleanor Kyttle, into a pond while she was unconscious in the back of a pickup truck, prosecutors said. He’d knocked her unconscious earlier, the attorneys argued, and forced their 14-year-old son, Mark Kyttle, to help load her into the truck. She drowned in a small pond along County Road 96 about 4 a.m. Jan. 10, 1993. After the verdict, Circuit Judge Brian Howell raised Kyttle’s bond from $150,000 to $1 million. He was taken to the Cleburne County Jail. Kyttle is set to be sentenced at 9 a.m. on Oct. 16.
