Police did not find anyone matching the description of a car with an apparent armed suspect who was supposedly heading to Cedartown Middle School Thursday. Reports are still sketchy, but initially Polk County 911 received a call at approximately 2:10 p.m. Thursday afternoon from the school. Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome said that children and teachers were at no time in danger during the incident. He said that he would rather scare people by overreacting rather than allowing something to happen by under-reacting.  Cedartown Police delayed releasing school until the car pickup line was checked to verify that the subject was not present. The unknown suspect in question is wanted by the Rockmart Police Department and is still at large.
