Cedartown man dies in golf cart accident

A golf cart collision has claimed the life of a 20 year old Cedartown man. According to deputy coroner Tony Brazier, Harrison Popham, son of optometrist Dr. Ray Popham, was pronounced dead Tuesday evening at Floyd Medical Center from what appears to be severe chest injuries. The initial call to 911 said that a twenty year old male was having difficulty breathing. CPR was being performed when early responders arrived on the scene at the Cherokee Golf and Country Club. Brazier said it was confirmed that Popham had been driving one of the golf carts at the time. Other officials said he was coming around a corner and hit another cart. Brazier said that no autopsy will be performed.
