Former CHS star Nick Chubb undergoes thumb surgery

University of Georgia freshmen tailback and former Cedartown Bulldog Nick Chubb underwent thumb surgery yesterday and did not practice with the team, according to numerous reports.

The AJC reports that Chubb fractured his thumb during practice last week but played in the South Carolina game, wearing a protective sleeve.  Chubb had four carries for 34 yards in Georgia’s 38-35 defeat to the Gamecocks.

Nick’s mother Lavelle Chubb told the AJC that Nick will likely miss this week’s game between the hedges verses Troy University and possibly more after that.

However, Head Coach Mark Richt told 24/7 Sports that he isn’t ruling out Chubb yet for this week, saying during a call-in radio show that “He is such a tough kid that I would count him out for this game at all.”

Chubb scored his first touchdown of his collegiate career against Clemson in week one, and has seen consistent playing time in the first two games.
