A large crowd was present at Monday's special session of the PSD Board of Education

A standing room only crowd was present at Monday’s Special Session of the Polk School District Board of Education amid rumors that cuts in teacher supplements would be made through the ongoing budget crisis. However, Superintendent Marvin Williams says that based on what the district is expecting in allotments from the state, no personnel cuts or any pay cuts are included in the budget. Williams said that he doesn’t speculate any changes in the current plan and said he feels better about the progress. The superintendent also applauded the efforts of the board to keep the kids and teachers as their priority. With the state easing the classroom size requirements Monday, Williams says that he and his administrators will look at the options. However, he emphasized that larger class sizes may not be the best for Polk School District. A budget committee meeting was set for Tuesday, June 1 at 5 p.m. at the Polk School District Central Office on South College Street in Cedartown.
