On October 20, 2016 Polk County Police Officers responded to 45 Adamson Drive apartment 19 in Cedartown in reference to a baby not breathing. The baby was transported by ambulance to Polk Medical Center in Cedartown in critical condition. The baby was identified as Ella Grayce Pointer. The baby was airlifted to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta where it was discovered she had possibly been sexually assaulted and also had severe head trauma. Ella Grayce Pointer died on Sunday October 30, 2016.
As a result of the investigation into the death of baby Ella Grayce Pointer by the Polk County Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Mr. Dustin Drew Putnal age 27 of 45 Adamson Drive Cedartown, Ga has been charged with Murder, Felony Murder, 2 counts of Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Battery, 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, and Felony Cruelty to Children. The investigation is still ongoing.
