Polk County Commissioners have given their stamp of approval for a plan that has been years in the making for downtown Cedartown.
The Cedartown Sports Walk of Fame Park is slated to be built on the grounds of the Polk County Courthouse.
Jane Wyatt, who serves on a citizen board panel, presented the conceptual drawings to commissioners at their meeting last week.
The park will include a number of statues of local sports legends, including Doc Ayers, Doug Sanders, Edgar Chandler, Ray Beck, Jimmy Hightower and Whitlow Wyatt.
She said that three of the statues are already complete.
The park is expected to be completed by the summer of 2016.
