Police: Three shootings in three days in Cedartown

Cedartown Police, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking into three separate shootings and are trying to determine whether or not they are related.

The fatal shooting of 35-year-old Kenneth “Mudd” Albert early Sunday morning (May 22) is being investigated as a homicide.

A neighbor who stopped by Albert’s residence on Barnes Alley noticed the front door open and then discovered the body.

The day before (May 21), the Cedartown Police Department answered a call Saturday evening on Thompson Street when gunfire was exchanged between two parties.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome said that Clarence Junior Sanders, 35 of 109 Martiele St. was arrested for his alleged involvement in the shooting.

He faces charges of aggravated assault and reckless conduct and is being held without bond.

Late Monday night, Cedartown Police responded to a reported drive-by shooting on East Ave., not far from where Albert’s body was found.  No one was injured in the Monday night shooting.

Newsome said that his investigative division is trying to determine if the shootings are linked together.

The GBI is assisting in the investigations as well.
