Pit Bulls Ban

The Etowah, Tennessee, City Commission approved an ordinance to ban pit bulls Monday night. The ordinance singles out pit bulls as a dangerous breed with a strong fighting and chase instinct. The ordinance grandfathers in existing pit bulls but bans new dogs. Existing owners will have to register their animals with identifying photos, post “beware of dog” signs, obtain $100,000 in liability insurance, keep dogs muzzled on short leashes when outside of the home and keep them confined indoors or in a locked pen or kennel at home.
