UPDATE: CHS student killed in morning wreck

Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome confirms to WGAA News that a 17-year-old female student at Cedartown High School was killed in this morning’s fatal wreck on Collard Valley Road.

She was a passenger in a vehicle with two other male students who were on the way to school.

We expect more information later today.

Cedartown Police are investigating a fatal wreck that occurred early this morning on Collard Valley Road.

According to Polk County Deputy Coroner Tony Brazier, the wreck occurred at around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday near the Clyde Street intersection.

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time, pending notification of family.

We hope to learn more information later this morning as the investigation is continuing.
