Cedartown truck driver killed on I-85 near West Point

A fatal wreck on I-85 close to West Point, GA has claimed the life of a Cedartown man. According to the Georgia State Patrol, 37 year old John Lloyd Parris was killed after he lost control of his tractor trailer in the southbound lanes of I-85 near the Highway 18 exit toward West Point. The truck then apparently ran off the road into the median and down the embankment between the two Highway 18 Overpass bridges. The truck crashed into a concrete support below the bridges and then caught fire. The smoke from the fiery crash could be seen for miles around. The truck was reportedly transporting office furniture from the Hon Company. Parris was employed by H&W Transfer and Cartage Service Inc., whose clientele includes the Hon Company.
