Boil Water Advisory issued for certain Polk Water Authority customers

PRESS RELEASE

A Boil Water Advisory has been issued effective immediately due to water discoloration caused by recent heavy rains at Mulco Spring for Polk County Water Authority customers in the following areas:

  • Youngs Farm Road
  • Antioch Road
  • Wooten Road
  • Lee’s Chapel Road
  • Morgan Valley Road
  • Hightower Falls Road
  • Campbell Road

To protect the public from this potential health hazard, citizens in the these areas are advised to boil water prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food.  The water should be boiled at least one minute after reaching a “rolling boil”. Citizens should continue boiling water until advised by the authority that Mulco Spring has been restored to full operation and microbiological quality of the water in the system is safe for human consumption.

The advisory is issued until further notice. Please insure that water used for consumption is boiled thoroughly before use.  Updates will be provided as they become available.
