Weekend wreck in Cave Spring sends two to hospital

A minor injury was reported early Saturday Morning after a car lost control and slammed into a tree north of Cave Spring. The accident occurred around 7:50 AM Saturday on Spout Springs Rd. just West of Mill St. While Floyd County Police is still investigating, it appears that the Honda station wagon type sedan was headed Westbound on Spout Springs Rd. when it lost control. The car then spun around, its passenger side impacted a tree, and came to rest in a front yard. Cave Spring Fire units along with Cave Spring Police, Floyd Co. Police, and Redmond EMS responded and immediately began extricating the two victims. Both victims were transported by Redmond EMS, one with a moderate head injury. Spout Springs Rd. has recently received a patch job of tar and gravel along its complete length. Though authorities are unsure if played a roll in the accident, the gravel at the accident scene appeared to be very loose, and authorities requested Floyd County Public Works respond soon to sweep the roadway. The vehicle was left at the scene with residents after all emergency units had left the scene as of about 7:20 PM.
