Peek Park fountain could be operational this weekend

The last part needed to restore the operation of a water fountain at Cedartown’s Peek Park was reported to be en route on Friday. Cedartown City Manager Charles Akridge said a control panel for the fountain was completed ahead of schedule and was expected to arrive this week. The water fountain is a popular cooling off point for local residents, especially children. The water shoots up from ground level and children are able to run and play in the water. The fountain failed in recent months and city officials thought that it might be after the July 4 holiday before it could be made operational again. However, attempts to “expedite” delivery of components was successful, Akridge said. If the final parts arrive in time, the fountain may be running again this weekend.
