DOT projects nearing completion

Some major road projects in the area are expected to be completed by this fall. Mohammad Arafa, DOT spokesperson, said a widening project along the Highway 27 business route is nearly 90 percent complete. The project includes six miles of widening for additional lanes. The Highway 27 project began in March 2007 and is expected to be completed by the end of this October. It will cost an estimated $47 million and will fall both on schedule and on budget. He said work in both Paulding and Polk Counties along State Route 101 is continuing and should be completed by the end of September. That project consists of 9.5 miles of resurfacing and reconstructing the shoulder beginning at State Route 120 in Paulding County and ending at State Route 6 in Polk. Work began last April. The project is expected to cost $2 million.
