Cartersville man arrested for identity theft

Bartow County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested a Cartersville man in connection with Identity Theft. According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, investigators arrested 28 year old Brandon George Tasker of 7 Chestnut St. Tuesday afternoon. Tasker allegedly used someone else’s checking account information from February 2008 until it was discovered in August 2009. Tasker apparently obtained the checking account number from a former girlfriend he once lived with who was the victim’s granddaughter, reports show. He allegedly used the victim’s account number to pay his cell phone bill over the phone during that time. The total cost taken from the victim’s account was approximately $4,300.  Tasker has since been released on $2,500 from the Bartow County Jail.
