Polk Board of Education to decide on millage rate tonight

The Polk School District Board of Education will be holding their regular school board meeting tonight with the hot issue on the agenda of raising the millage rate 0.16 percent over the rollback millage rate. The new budget recently adopted by the Board necessitates an increase in the millage rate. State law requires that three public hearings be held to allow citizens to voice their opinions. The board will be meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in a public hearing to discuss the rate, and a decision will be made at the regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m. at Central Office on College Street in Cedartown.
