Three Run Third Gives Rome the 5-2 Win

Rome, GA – The Rome Braves (1-0) defeated the Hagerstown Suns Thursday 4-2 in front of an opening night of 3,424 fans at State Mutual Stadium.

Hagerstown jumped on the board with two runs in the first inning on Juan Sotos (1) two run shot to left giving the Suns a 2-0 lead.

Rome bounced back to take a 3-2 lead with three runs in the second on a two run triple by Isranel Wilson and a run scoring single by Derian Cruz.

In the third, the Braves added to their lead on Drew Lugbauers RBI single making it a 4-2 game.

Rome added an insurance run in the eighth on Riley Degados RBI triple for the 5-2 lead.

The Braves bullpen had an outstanding game as Tanner Allison, Alan Rangel, and Thomas Burrows shut out the Suns on three hits and seven strikeouts for the 5-2 victory.

Allison (1-0) picks up the win and Burrows earns his first save of the season. Brigham Hill (0-1) is hit with the loss for Hagerstown.
