Rome Wolves football wins state championship

The Rome Wolves have done it.

They defeated Buford 16-7 and capture the AAAAA State Football Championship at the Georgia Dome.

It’s the first title in Rome High history and 8th in Rome City Schools history.

Buford took the early lead in the opening minutes of the game but that would be their only score, as the Rome defense put in a spectacular performance.

Following a field goal before halftime, Rome took a 10 to 7 lead in the 3rd quarter with a with a touchdown run by Knox Kadum.

Rome sealed the deal with a quarterback keeper for a touchdown with just over a minute left in the game.
