Peek arrested for sexual assault charge

The man who was arrested after a sex sting operation in Walker County in 2009 was arrested again earlier this week on a misdemeanor sexual assault charge.

According to reports at the Polk County Jail, Julius Winfrey Peek, 74, of Cedartown was arrested and charged with misdemeanor sexual assault on June 21.

According to Cedartown Police Chief Jamie Newsome, investigators received a complaint of the alleged offense back on June 16.

The complainant accused Peek of forcing himself upon the victim and touched her inappropriately.

Newsome said that the “alleged offense was relatively old,” but there was sufficient evidence to issue an arrest warrant on Peek.

Peek was arrested by the Rossville Police Department in 2009 and was out of jail on probation.

He remained in the Polk County Jail Thursday evening on a $1,100 bond.

Peek will face a probation violation in Walker County once bond is posted in Polk County.
