One shot in family dispute in Rome area

A shooting overnight in North Rome has sent two brothers to the hospital. According to Floyd County Police, Lewis Johnston was shot after an argument with his brother and nephew over property lines. Police arrived on the scene at approximately 11 p.m. and found the victim’s son fighting the alleged gunman defending his father. Initially, it was determined that the victim’s brother, Jerry Johnston was in possession of the gun. After police disarmed the suspect, EMT’s moved in to treat those injured on the scene. Police said both men were taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, and that upon his release, Jerry Johnston would be facing charges.
