An Alabama driver was killed in a one vehicle wreck on Piedmont Highway heading back to their home state early this morning.

According to Polk County Deputy Coroner Ivan Warner, driver Lindsay Conner, 25, of Piedmont, Ala., was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:08 a.m. after the wreck was discovered less than 20 minutes before.

Georgia State Patrol officials said Connor had left the roadway in a curve, hit a mailbox and a embankment before the car flipped for more than 100 feet, ejecting Conner from the car, and coming to a rest in several small pine trees in a front yard on Piedmont Highway.

No one else was involved or injured in the wreck. GSP has not yet completed their investigation.
