  • Cedartown Library  Giant USED BOOK SALE next week. Saturday, Sept. 11th through Saturday, Sept. 18th during normal library hours.Hardbacks $1 / Paperbacks .25.The library is signing up volunteers that would like to help set up or takedown the sale books. We will also take last minute donations beginning Friday the 10th. No musty or moldy books will be accepted. Some donations may be added to the library’s circulating collection and others may be sold to raise money for new materials. Set-up will be held on Friday, Sept. 10th starting at 10:00am  – These volunteers will get first pick at the sale. Takedown will be on Monday, Sept. 20th starting at 10:00am – These volunteers will get a bag of books free! Call 770-748-5644 to be added to the volunteer list today.
  • Cedartown Library  Cinema Saturday.showing on Saturday, Sept. 4th at 1pm  (Cinema Saturday will be suspended until Sept. 25 after the Used Book Sale ends) Marmaduke –  Rated PG. Runtime : 87 minutes. A suburban family moves to a new neighborhood with their large yet lovable Great Dane, who has a tendency to wreak havoc in his own oblivious way.
  • Angel Food -.  The new order date will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2nd Baptist Church from 10 – 12 noon and food distribution will be the following Saturday, September 18, from 10:30 to 11:30am.  Angel Food has extended their order deadlines, again so we can now accept orders through Tuesday, September 14 at 5:00 p.m. and online orders may be taken up through Tuesday, September 14, 11:59 pm.  The menus have changed and the Signature box is now $31. Instead of $30. But still a great deal.  They have also included an even larger box with lots of great items for $41.
  •  Juvenile Diabetes Motorcycle Ride -Advance Auto Parts Cedartown Store and the Unknown Soldiers Motorcycle Club of Rome Ga, Have Teamed up for their 3rd annual ride for Juvenile Diabetes Saturday September 18,2010. Registration begins at 10am. The Ride will leave Advance Auto parts store located at 904 North Main Street in Cedartown at 11:30am. The cost is $20.00 per bike, passengers  are free. T-Shirts will be provided on a first come first serve basis. Lunch will also be served to all riders. There will be a drawing for many prizes. For more information call Natalie

  • Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department – will be having their annual Labor BBQ on Monday September 6th 2010. Come enjoy their slow Hickory Smoked Boston Butts, BBQ Pork  and World Famous Brunswick Stew. BBQ will be served by the plate, pound, or sandwich. Sides include slaw, baked beans, chips and bread. Also cold soft drinks and homemade desserts will be available. Stew will be sold by the gallow,quart or plate. All proceeds will go for new equipment and training supplies for the Blooming Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Serving will begin at 11am and contiune until sold out.   • Cedartown High School Marching Band 2010 Cookout Fund Raiser – The Cedartown Band Booster’s are publishing a cookbook filled to the brim with the best recipes from the best in our community and we need your favorite recipes! The profits from the sale of the cookbooks will help purchase new uniforms for the CHS Marching Band. Please give your favorite recipes to a band booster, Mr. McGarity, Janice White in the Cedartown High School Office or e-mail them to j.goggins@hughes.net .   • The Hunter Safety Class- will be offered on three occasions this fall in Polk County. Anyone wishing to attend one of these classes should register now by going on-line at www.georgiawildlife.com .  The second class will be an eight hour two night course starting on September 14th and ending on September 16th.   • Farm Fresh Vegetable Market will be held at Peek’s Park this season. The market location is at the parking lot of Peek’s Park in Cedartown. This park is located off of College Street in Cedartown.   • East Cobber Festival- The 15th Annual East Cobber Parade and Festival is scheduled for Saturday September 11. The day’s festivities will be kicked off by the East Cobber Parade at 10:00am.   • Yoga Class -Come and Join us on Mondays at 6:00pm at the Senior Building at the Bert Woods Park. This is a 60 minutes class, All Ability Levels, No Experience Necessary. Donations welcomed. Please bring mat or towel. Improve Balance,Strength and Range of Motion. Reduce Stress. Although Movements looks peaceful, they can be challenging. Movements will be based on Yoga – Postures are held up for 1 minute. Pilates – Movements are flowing. Basic Stretches – To improve circulation and range of motion.
