Cedartown Police have arrested a man on numerous drug charges following a traffic stop for a minor infraction.
According to an incident report, police were patrolling on Fourth Street Monday afternoon when a man was observed driving his vehicle without wearing a seatbelt.
The man later failed to signal a left turn at a stop sign, prompting the officer to initiate a traffic stop.
The suspect reportedly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, according to police reports.
The suspect had to be tazed before he complied with the officer’s demands.
Upon a search of the suspect’s pockets, police located baggies of suspected cocaine and marijuana, as well as a large sum of money.
Police arrested 29-year-old Phillip Dunte Johnson of an Irwin Street address on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction of law enforcement officers, and the original traffic violations of failure to signal and safety belt violation.
He remains in the Polk County Jail this morning without bond.
