Day 3 of Pax
What started as snow on Tuesday will hopefully end with snow on Thursday. Winter storm Pax is still effecting the southeast with freezing temperatures and lingering snow in some areas. Cedartown residents woke up to snow and a winter wonderland Thursday morning after Pax dumped snow, freezing rain and ice all over Cedartown. According to reports from Georgia Power residents throughout Polk County went without power. Power outages were reported from Piedmont Hwy. in the west to downtown Cedartown, to Antioch and into Rockmart in the east. Polk County Schools closed their doors for a third straight day due to the conditions of the roadways in Cedartown. Road department crews did attempt to clear some of the major routes in Cedartown. Temperatures are expected to rise to around 40 degrees today which should begin to melt some of the ice and snow away. Some meteorologist however are expecting much of the snow and ice to stick around into Friday when temperatures are expected to reach the 50’s. WGAA will continue to keep you updated on road conditions and closing throughout the area.
