The northbound lane of Main Street at Marietta Street will be closed to traffic for a few hours today as improvement work is performed on a nearby water line.
The water line improvements are part of a Community Development Block Grant, explained Kelvin Garmon, City Water and Maintenance Superintendent, and will be beneficial for residents. “The work we will be doing will improve water pressure and also set the stage for better resources for city fire protection,” he said.
Different sections of Main Street have been closed over the last few weeks. Today, Garmon was happy to report that this will be the last closure affecting Main Street as part of this improvement project. “We appreciate everyone working with us, re-routing and understanding,” Garmon said.
