EMS Providers may combine
According to reports the two EMS providers in Polk County may be looking to combine into one single service. Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center are expected to submit a formal request within the next few weeks to combine the two hospital’s EMS service into a single provider. Redmond Regional Medical Center’s EMS service currently covers Polk County, Floyd County and Chattooga County, while Floyd operates in designated zones in Polk and Floyd County. Hospital leaders have been discussing some type of merger for several months and recently notified their employees of the possible merger by email. It is unclear at this time exactly what kind of merger would take place if the request was approved. The two services may be combined into one service or an outside service may be brought in to take over the services. Both hospital managers are hoping to have an approval to move ahead in the merger process within the next six months.
