Two trucks collide
Two tractor trailers collided Sunday night and shut down part of Highway 27 South. Emergency crews responded to the area of Highway 27 South and the South Main Street turn off around 8:30pm. A truck carrying pulp wood logs traveling North collided with a Heartland Express transfer truck traveling South at the intersection. The pulp wood truck hit the Heartland Express truck in the engine compartment and then rolled on its side as it took out the guard rail and spilled its load of logs. Reports originally stated one driver was trapped in their truck but was freed before fire crews from Cedartown Fire arrived on scene. It is unclear at this time whether the truck traveling North ran the red light or the if truck traveling South pulled in front of the wood truck. No injury reports on the drivers of the two trucks are available at this time.
