Possible fire at Polk County Jail
Crews from Cedartown Fire Department responded to the Polk County Jail Thursday afternoon to the report of a possible fire. Firefighters were dispatched after an employee of the jail called 911 and reported a possible fire in the kitchen area. Firefighters arrived on scene and checked the area of the kitchen but were unable to locate the source of the smoke. Crews checked the building and eventually made their way to the roof of the building to check the heating and air units located on the roof. Fire crews along with jail maintenance personnel located the source of the problem once the reached the roof and checked the attic area. A burned up motor in one of the heating and air units was the cause of the smoke coming into the building.
