County hears proposal for land purchase
Polk County Commissioner’s have received a proposal from SkyDive Georgia to purchase a portion of land from the county at the Polk County Airport. Rick Bray from SkyDive Georgia presented the proposal to the board at the December meeting. Bray stated the less than one acre piece of property SkyDive Georgia wanted to purchase would be used for military personnel to use through a contract agreement. Bray believes the use of this property by military personnel would bring economic advantages to the Polk County area. Commissioners along with Polk County attorney Brad McFall explained to Bray the complications with purchasing a piece of property that Polk County received federal funding for. Polk County currently receives $150,000 annual from the federal government for upkeep of the airport. Bray is expected to revise his proposal and re-present it a late date.
