Work begins on sewer line
Construction has started on a new 12-inch sewer line that will service the new Polk Medical Center. The sewer line has started at the site of the new Polk Medical Center on highway 278 and will continue into Cedartown where it will eventually end at the waste water treatment plant on Branch Street. The line will have to be run underneath Main Street and College Street. The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014 just before the planned opening of the new hospital in the fall of 2014. The $4.5 million sewer line project is being paid for by Floyd Healthcare Management, Inc. and Polk Medical Center, inc. The overall cost of the new hospital is in the $40 million range.
