International Credit Union Day
Oct. 17th/2013, credit union members around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day, an event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements. “This year’s theme is “Unite for Good” and in honor of that each one of our six branches in Rome, Cedartown, Cartersville, and Rockmart has chosen a different philanthropy in the communities they serve to spot light and help raise awareness.” stated Robert Smyth AVP of Marketing and Business Development for Coosa Valley Credit Union. “One of the things I really appreciate about the employees here at Coosa Valley is their enthusiasm and creativity with this event. We hope everyone will stop by Thursday for refreshments and to see exactly what kind of difference credit unions make in our community.” For a complete list of Coosa Valley Credit Union branches, go to www.mycvcu.org.
Since 1948, International Credit Union day has been celebrated annually on the third week of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history and promote awareness of and support for the credit union difference. Credit unions are recognized as a force for positive economic and social change and have provided significant value in both developed and emerging nations. International Credit Union Day is sponsored by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), the international trade association and development agency for credit unions worldwide, and numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.
