School Board Convenes in Monthly Meeting
The Polk County School Board met in its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday. All members were present with the exception of Tara O’Neal and Jane Holbrooks. Each had prior engagements.
Miah Lovelace, a 5th grader at Eastside Elementary, was recognized for her artwork. She is the Art Winner for the month of October.
There was no Budgetary Committee report, but the Non-Budgetary Committee did recommend that all requests from those not employed by the school district to use PSD facilities be approved by the School Board.
The financial report stated that the District has completed 16.67% of the fiscal year, and revenues were 3.85% less than expected. Expenditures were .16% less than expected.
In the Superintendent’s Report, Marvin Williams discussed the advertisement methods he would use to inform the community of the upcoming meetings regarding Re-Districting. He also stated that He and Greg Teems, Director of Student Services, are clarifying language regarding shorts worn in class and in P.E.
