WGAA 1340AM Cedartown

A home on Piedmont Highway was destroyed Saturday night after it caught fire around 9:45 p.m. The house was located between South Lewis Road and Cornelius Road. Firefighters from Blooming Grove, Esom Hill, Prior Station, Young’s Station and Lake Creek fire departments responded to the fire. Upon arrival of fire crews the house was fully engulfed in flames. Piedmont Highway had to be shut down for around 4 hours because of fire equipment that had to be staged on the road. Firefighters were on scene initially for around 4 hours, but had to return 3 additionally times.The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but is under investigation. No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
