Rockmart Teen Killed
The new year brought tragedy to a Rockmart family with the brutal killing of a 16-year old. Rockmart Police have arrested 34-year old Jermaine Ware and charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault. According to reports police received a call of shots fired in the area of Gordon Street and Church Street on Saturday around 9:00 a.m. Upon arrival of police officers a 16-year old was found laying in the street. The teenager was taken to Floyd Medical center where he was later pronounced dead. The body of the teenager has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab and the name of the teenager has not been released at this time. According to reports a car that may be associated with the murder was recovered Sunday morning. The cause of the conflict between the victim and Ware is unknown at this time, but police do say the two knew each other.
