County Structure Fires
Crews from 6 Polk County Fire Stations worked until the early morning hours extinguishing flames from a hay barn fire. Firefighters from Lake Creek, Fish Creek, Young’s Station, Prior Station, Blooming Grove, and Antioch fire departments responded to the hay fire around 10:00 p.m. Monday night on Lindsey Chapel Road. The hay fire quickly spread to the structure the hay was stacked beside, which was housing a camper. The inside of the building, as well as the camper suffered extensive damage, and 150 round bails of hay were essential ruined. A crew from the Georgia Forestry Commission arrived on scene soon after the first fire crews to assist with the blaze. The Georgia Forestry crew removed the hay from under the shed and away from the structure to attempt to put the hay bails out. Crews battled the blaze for over 4 and a half hours.
