Election Results
Election day is over, the votes are in, and voters have spoken. A total of 22.5% of registered voters voted here in Polk County in the July 20th primary election. Democrat Ray Barber and Democrat Frank “Bud” Lott are set for a runoff for County Commission District 2. The following are the results for the Polk County and surrounding areas:County Commission District 1: Republican Jason Ward received 1,866 votes; Democrat Sandra Galloway(I) received 1,345 votes. County Commission District 2: Republican Phillip Bentley received 1,718 votes; Democrat Ray Barber received 562 votes, Democrat Frank “Bud” Lott(I) received 815 votes, Democrat Leroy F. Peugh received 289 votes. County Commission District 3: Marshalle Thaxton(I) received 1,311 votes. Board of Education District 1: Republican Susan L. Berry received 33 votes. Board of Education District 2: Republican Grady McCrickard(I) received 204 votes. Board of Education District 3: Democrat Jane Holbrooks(I) received 136. Board of Education District 6: Republican Crystal Sproull received 190 votes; Democrat Dan Forsyth received 101 votes. Board of Education District 7: Democrat Tommy Sanders(I) received 69 votes. U.S. House District 11: Republican Phil Gingrey(I) received 2,097 votes. U.S. Senate: Republican Johnny Isakson(I) received 1,910; Democrat R.J. Hadley received 288 votes and 16% of the total vote, Democrat Michael Thurmond received 1,168 votes and 84% of the total vote. State Senate District 31: Republican Pete Bridges received 1,038 votes and 47% of the total votes, Republican Bill Heath(I) received 1,305 votes and 53% of the total votes; Democrat Tracy Gene Bennett received 1,205 votes.
