According to the Georgia Department of Education, six out ten Polk County Schools did not meet Average Yearly Progress (AYP), for the 2009-2010 school year. Cedartown High School, Rockmart High School, Rockmart Middle School, Cherokee Elementary School, Eastside Elementary School, and Westside Elementary School failed to meet AYP. Cedartown Middle School, Harpst Academy, Northside Elementary, and Van Wert Elementary School did meet AYP for the 2009-2010 school year. Overall, Polk School District failed to meet AYP, with only 40% of schools meeting the AYP standards.
