Silver Creek woman faces vehicular homicide charge after tractor driver dies in wreck

A Silver Creek woman is in the Polk County Jail without bond after she allegedly struck a man on his tractor Saturday afternoon.

Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier said that Jerry Eugene Robinson, 59, of a Laurens Road address was carrying a bale of hay down Bellview Road near Pine Mountain Road when a Honda Accord struck the tractor and caused it to flip and overturn in the ditch.

Robinson was taken by Redmond EMS to Polk Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 5:14 p.m.

The Georgia State Patrol arrested the driver of the Accord, Stacie Waddell Henson, 34, of 3974 Old Rockmart Road in Silver Creek on charges of felony homicide by vehicle, DUI alcohol, driving while license suspended or revoked, no insurance, and following too closely.

Henson was booked into the Polk County Jail Saturday and remains there without bond set.

Brazier said that the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team was on the scene Saturday conducting their investigation into the fatal wreck.
