Man struck and killed by train in North Rome

The body of a man struck and killed by a train Friday evening in Rome has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for identification.

According to Deputy Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, the man was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m. after being hit by the train on the railroad tracks near Callahan Street in North Rome.

The victim is a black male with a beard, possibly in his 40’s.

He had no identification on him.

Proctor said if anyone had information about who the man may be, please contact 911 or the Floyd County Coroner’s Office.
