UPDATE: Coroner’s office releases ID of crash victim

Polk County Deputy Coroner Marty Robinson has identified the victim in Tuesday’s deadly crash as Richard Allen Jolly, 67, of a Culp Lake Road address.

Jolly was driving a white Chevrolet truck when he was reportedly struck by a tractor trailer at the intersection of Highway 278 and Canal Street.

Robinson said that Jolly was pronounced at the scene.  The driver of the tractor trailer was transported via Redmond EMS to Polk Medical Center and was later released.

Jolly’s body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.  No word on any charges being filed at this time.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a wreck just outside of Cedartown Tuesday afternoon involving a tractor trailer truck and a pickup truck in which an elderly gentleman was pronounced dead on the scene..

Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier confirmed the fatality to WGAA News  in a two vehicle accident at Highway 278 West and Canal Street Tuesday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.
