Posted in News Desk by FrankB
Oct 13 2012

The Cedartown Bulldogs had a great game offensively Friday Night against the Pickens County Dragons but the Bulldogs were unable to solve the mystery of the Pickens County Offense as they put up 54 points in the contest against the Bulldogs defense, with Pickens County Winning the game by the score of 54 to 35!

The Bulldogs led at halftime by the score of 28 to 27, thanks largely to Nick Chubb’s 4 TD’s and over 250 yards rushing. The Dawgs received the second half of kickoff and drove to near the Dragons 30 yard before being stopped on 4th down. The Dragons then had a quick drive for a TD and went ahead 34 to 28. The Dawgs then received the kickoff after the Pickens TD, Taylor Novinger had to retreat all the way to the 1 yard line to make the catch and proceeded to run 99 yards for a TD to put the Dragons back on top 35 to 34. The Dragons then scored three more TD’s and were able to shut down the Bulldogs offense to make the final score 54 to 35.

The Bulldogs have an open date this week but will return to action against the Cass Colonels on Friday Oct. 26th at Cedartown Memorial Stadium , Doc Ayers field. The Final once again was Pickens 54 and Cedartown 35.

Burglary Suspects Sought

Posted in News Desk by FrankB
Aug 13 2012

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with Floyd and Polk County authorities to apprehend burglars in their respective areas.

Several homes have been broken into with flat screen TV’s and other personal property stolen.

In Georgia, one resident was home at the time of the break-in.

In another Georgia incident the homeowner returned to the residence and encountered the thieves leaving her property, so she blocked the driveway and call 9-1-1; one of the burglars pulled a gun and forced her to move – allowing them to escape.

One of the suspects is described as a young white male – approximately five-feet-nine inches tall with a thin build, having shaggy blond hair and dark eyes.

The other is a black male, also about five-feet-nine and his hair is longer on the top than the sides – forming a small Mohawk. His eyes appear to be green.

The suspects were driving a charcoal grey Nissan with a wildlife style Alabama tag.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver says its unclear if the same suspects are involved in burglaries in this area but warned residents to be on the lookout for these individuals – and to contact investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 927-3365 with any information they may have.
